What is your Yellow Tea Pot?

yellowtpotI have a gift for you this week- an operating system for the Human Mind.

This is how we create sadness and happiness, this is how we create anxiety and peace of mind, this is how we create pessimism and optimism, this is the three step process for how we create and generate every single feeling and experience we have-

1.There is a thought that we believe

2.The thought generates a feeling

3.The feeling generates an experience

Simples. It is the same three steps for every single emotion and state of mind regardless of the content or the outcome. And it is all generated internally despite how it might look.

This is how we are led to believe life works- Suppose you had a traumatic event in your life that involved a Yellow Teapot. In the future whenever you saw a Yellow Teapot you might feel the feeling of the trauma again and that would look like it was the Yellow Teapot triggering you into having the experience. Every time you saw a Yellow Teapot you would get the same feelings you had in the past. And so you would go out of your way to avoid Yellow Teapots- you might check with a friend before you went round to visit her, if she had any Yellow Teapots, because you react so badly to them; when you were in a store you couldn’t go into the Teapot section for fear of how you would feel if there was a Yellow One; this is the Outside –In story that we are conditioned to believe to be true- that something outside of us, even if it happened in the past, has the power to affect how we feel in this moment.

However, this is actually how it works- the Inside-Out nature of reality- the Yellow Teapot looks like the trigger, but you are the one who has to pull the trigger. The Yellow Teapot is just a teapot, but it is the meaning you have given and anchored in to the teapot that makes it look as if it is the thing causing you to feel bad- you have believed a thought about the Teapot, the thought has generated a feeling about the Teapot and the feeling generates a re-experiencing of the trauma. Because you experienced something bad in your life once, you might believe every Yellow Teapot would do the same.

Your experience of life isn’t coming from where you think it is coming from. It is coming from inside you…..and we all have our Yellow Teapots in one form or another.

So how does having this manual help?

It takes us back to the source of our experience. Only we can re-traumatize our self, the past has no ability to do that; and similarly the future has no ability to create anxiety, only our thoughts that we believe about it can create that.

There is nothing outside you that has any ability to create a feeling inside you and when you understand that it doesn’t make sense to pull the trigger anymore.
