Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Permission Field for me?

The Permission Field is for women who are self-aware, capable and used to holding things together, but who have reached a point where the way they've been living no longer feels quite right.

Perhaps you're overthinking, second-guessing yourself or constantly considering what everyone else needs.

Perhaps you know a lot about yourself but still find yourself repeating the same patterns.

Or perhaps you simply have a growing sense that there is more of you waiting to be lived.

You don't need to have a particular problem or arrive with a clear goal.

You just need to feel that you're ready for something to change.

What can coaching help me with?

Coaching can be helpful when you feel stuck, disconnected from yourself or unsure about what comes next.

People often come to me around things like:

  • overthinking and second-guessing themselves
  • people-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
  • low self-trust
  • relationship patterns
  • feeling stuck or dissatisfied with life
  • major life changes
  • difficult decisions
  • lack of confidence
  • feeling disconnected from what they want
  • knowing something needs to change but not knowing what

We don't necessarily set out to “fix” any of these things.

Instead, we look underneath them.

Because when you begin to understand what's really going on, change can happen much more naturally.

How is The Permission Field different from traditional life coaching?

Traditional coaching can sometimes focus heavily on goals, action plans and finding strategies to get from where you are to where you want to be.

There is a place for that.

But my work is less about telling you what to do and more about helping you hear yourself clearly enough to know what is right for you.

We pay attention to your thoughts, your body, your emotions, your patterns and your inner voice.

Sometimes the most important shift isn't deciding what to do.

It's becoming the person who can finally hear what she already knows.

What actually happens in a coaching session?

You don't need to prepare anything or arrive knowing what you want to talk about.

We begin with what's alive for you.

I'll listen deeply, ask questions and reflect back what I'm noticing. Together we'll explore what is happening beneath the surface and where you may be getting caught in old patterns of thinking or behaviour.

There may be moments of insight, difficult conversations, laughter, emotion or simply a sense of things becoming clearer.

Every session is different because every person is different.

There isn't a formula you have to follow.

Will you tell me what I should do?

No.

I'm not here to tell you whether to leave your relationship, change your job, move house or make any other major decision.

My role is to help you become clear enough to hear your own answer.

You might come to me feeling completely confused about something and discover that, underneath all the noise, you already know.

That's a very different kind of clarity.

Can coaching help with overthinking?

Yes. Overthinking is something many of my clients come to me with.

Often, the problem isn't that you think too much. It's that you've learned to use thinking to try to create certainty, safety or control.

We can explore what's underneath the thinking rather than simply trying to stop it.

As you become more connected to yourself and more able to trust your own knowing, you may find that you don't need to analyse every decision quite so intensely.

Can coaching help with people-pleasing?

Yes.

People-pleasing is often a deeply learned way of staying safe, connected or accepted.

It's not something you need to beat yourself up about.

Together, we can begin to notice when you're automatically overriding your own needs, feelings or preferences in order to keep other people happy or avoid discomfort.

The aim isn't to become selfish.

It's to discover that you can care about other people without abandoning yourself in the process.

Is this therapy?

No. The Permission Field is coaching, not therapy.

Coaching is generally focused on your present life, your patterns, your choices and where you want to go from here.

I don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

If you're experiencing significant mental health difficulties or need therapeutic or medical support, I may recommend that you work with an appropriately qualified therapist or healthcare professional alongside, or instead of, coaching.

If you're unsure whether coaching is appropriate for you, we can talk about that in our initial conversation.

How many sessions will I need?

The Permission Field is offered as a six-session experience.

We meet for approximately 60–75 minutes at a time, usually over six to eight weeks.

Six sessions gives us enough time to move beyond simply identifying patterns and begin to notice how change is actually becoming part of your everyday life.

Sometimes you may want further coaching afterwards, and we can talk about what would be useful for you.

How long is each session?

Sessions are approximately 60–75 minutes.

I don't believe in rushing a conversation to fit neatly into a particular box, so there is some flexibility depending on what is happening for you.

Where do sessions take place?

The Permission Field is available online, so you can work with me wherever you are.

I also offer in-person sessions in the Bridport area where appropriate.

If you're local and would prefer to work face-to-face, just mention this when you get in touch.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to change before I start?

Not at all.

In fact, many women come to me knowing only that something doesn't feel right anymore.

You might say:

“I don't know what's wrong. I just know I can't carry on like this.”

That's enough.

Clarity doesn't always come before the work.

Sometimes clarity is what emerges through the work.

What if I've already done lots of personal development?

Then you may be exactly the person I work well with.

You may already understand your childhood, your attachment style, your limiting beliefs and your patterns.

You may have read the books, listened to the podcasts and done the courses.

And yet you can still find yourself doing the same things.

The Permission Field isn't about giving you more information about yourself.

It's about allowing what you already know to become something you actually live.

What if I'm not very good at talking about my feelings?

That's okay.

You don't have to be.

You don't need to arrive with the right words, and you don't need to explain yourself perfectly.

We can slow things down.

Sometimes your body will tell us something before you have words for it.

Sometimes what you say isn't quite what you mean, and together we can gently explore that.

There is no performance required.

What happens if I become emotional?

Whatever needs to be felt is welcome.

You don't have to hold yourself together for me.

There is no need to apologise for tears, anger, uncertainty or not knowing.

We can make space for what's there without turning every emotion into something that needs analysing or fixing.

How much does The Permission Field cost?

The Permission Field is a six-session 1:1 coaching experience.

Investment: £850

Sessions are approximately 60–75 minutes and take place over six to eight weeks.

Payment in full or an agreed payment plan is available.

If you'd like to know whether it's right for you before making a commitment, you're very welcome to book a free 20-minute conversation first.

What happens in the free 20-minute conversation?

It's simply a chance for us to talk.

You can tell me what's happening in your life, what you're struggling with or what you're longing for.

I'll listen, answer any questions you have and tell you honestly whether I think The Permission Field could support you.

There is no obligation to work with me afterwards.

It's important to me that you choose this because it feels right, not because you've been persuaded.

What if I'm not sure whether you're the right coach for me?

That's exactly what the free conversation is for.

You don't need to decide before we speak.

Come and have a conversation with me.

You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work and notice how it feels to be in the space with me.

Sometimes you'll know very quickly.

And if I don't think I'm the right person to support you, I'll tell you.

I'm ready. What do I do next?

If something in you is saying yes, even if you don't completely know why, start there.

You don't need to have it all figured out.

Start your journey back to yourself.
